As a rare mineralogical feature this specimen is a half open, half closed smoky quartz gwindel of superb quality. This specimen is even a floater which makes it utterly unique. Unfortunately at the bottom right corner there is a small damage that luckily is not visible from the frontside. Aside of that, this piece is in perfect condition, free of cracks and completely limpid. Truly outstanding!
This is an elongated prismatic quartz of great transparency and luster all around. The bottom of this fine specimen is fully crystallized with terminated quartz and white accessory pericline. Also at the side face some smaller pericline crystals are perched. A side-crystal at the back is broken but which is not visible from the front. Some edges are a bit rough but most of which is contact induced with only one visible chip at the termination. All in all this is a remarkably fine quartz specimen for Rauris, with typical character and a dominant, attractive appearance!
This is a really lovely apatite, well and aestheticaly situated on matrix. The crystal has a perfectly "text book" shape, which looks gorgeous in person. It is pristine all around and creates a very good contrast to the brownish matirx. It is more glassy and of better qulaity in person then visible on the photos!
WOW, what a beautiful cluster of parallel grown quartz crystals, pointing in the same direction. This piece is coming out of an old collection, with a sticker on it reporting that it was found in 1966. It is a floater with just very minor damage on one of the tips at the bottom. Very lovely in person and completely different to most of the quartz I have seen from this locality.
One highly lustrous and transparent quartz crystal of fascinating shape protrudes from a quartz matrix that is perfectly crystallized all over. The quality of the main crystal is absolutely superb with sparkling luster and an interior that is, save for some internal cracks that even improve the reflections, water-clear. At close view you will find some minor scratchs here or there but nothing of concern. An imposing piece that holds an excellently vibrant sheen!
This floater shows unique, untamed aesthetics. The outline very well shows the larger, doubly terminated main crystal with several side-crystals and adularia that has grown all around this specimen. There is virtually no damage, one smaller break on an adularia crystal is only visible from the backside and utterly acceptable. A distinctive and fragile piece in very good condition!
Water-clear crystals and a distinctive fork-shape are distinguishing this quartz specimen. At the main crystals back you find some iron oxide and mica which adds a very nice color-effect. The bottom is perfectly recrystallized and free of damage as is the rest of this impressive little specimen.
This large and impressive specimen is a fantastic combination of apophyllite with chlorite on a massive skeletal quartz floater. The apophyllite covers the quartz like a layer of snow or, where it is encrusted with chlorite, like moss on a rock's surface. The Elfriedestollen (or Elfriede Tunnel) was driven through massive rock in the 70s and 80s as part of the constructioni of the hydroelectric power plant. As a by-product, several different minerals have been recovered in the process, this very piece to be one of the most spectacular and brilliant. A real stunner in person of exceptional sparkling quality!
What a great, shiny piece! Large plates of hematite up to 3 cm in diameter are stacked together, showing mirroring metallic luster on many facets. The narrow edges reflect the light in catchy tempering colors. Backside and the front are matchingly beautiful while at the back there is one single chipping worth mentioning. As is characteristic for Alpine hematite there are small fire-red rutile crystals on the hematete's surface the largest of which is 0.5 cm long. All in all this is a fantastic piece in great condition with only some peripheral damage at the bottom that do not compromise its overal visual splendor!
Another quite remarkable quartz from the cavradi gorge. While the high quality of the quartz, with superb luster and clarity is typical for the locale, this special combination with faden-quartz and quartz of unusual crystal habit has a unique look. The whole piece is in very good condition with an absolutely perfect, gemmy main crystal. A sublime piece for the collector of exceptional mineral specimens.
Free of any damage, this cluster of pink fluorite is perched on a distinctly 3-dimensional matrix. I love the overall aesthetics of this piece as the matrix provides a nice contrast to the fluorite crystals and emphasizes their appealing charm. The crystals are complex and modified offering a deatailed landscape. A typical yet very much remarkable piece of pink fluorite from Zinggenstock!
The combination with siderite provides this quartz specimen with its very own special charm. The main crystal is like a carrier rocket and everything - the flawless side crystals, the iron oxide coating and the rust-brown siderite - thematically revolves around it. This whole piece is in a very good shape. The main crystal is contacted at the back (which you can very well see through the water-clear crystal body) and has a minor ding, a "Wilbur", at the termination. A great piece of excellent aesthetics and quality!
