Initensive green and brown titanite on a contrasting white pericline matrix. This specimen is pure nature with titanite crystals of all sizes and shapes grown across the pericline like a vein. The largest crystal, around 3.2 cm in size, protrudes from the very top of the specimen and is easily lit by medium backlight. Nicely balanced and with a dinstinct outline this is a very aesthetic piece with no considerable damage. Some dark green chlorite over the pericline and red hematite at the very bottom add even more Alpine character to this unique piece. Sure, we have seen better quality on the titanite, but this is a remarkable piece when it comes to natural Alpine style beauty!
Natural yellow quartz is the shiny prince of the quartz family and extremely rare! This massy specimen from the Rauris Valley is an old classic that fortunately found its way to our stock to proceed to your collection. The whole crystal is in best condition with only microscopic edgewear at the tip. Where the lower parts are milky with impurities or internal cracks, the tip is completely glassy and with the subtle color of sweet lemon-cake. The luster is perfect at the termination and mediocre at the prism faces. The bottom is all healed, not freshly broken. A stunning piece for any collection of Alpine rarities!
A fantastic combination of a large, water clear skeletal quartz on a snow white adularia matrix. The whole thing is a floater and undamaged all around. I actually find both the front and the back absolutely beautiful, with a different character but matching quality. The frontside shows the skeletal quartz in all its beauty, the backside scores with large and sharp adularia. The quartz is all perfect, intensively skeletallized yet still showing the typical quartz-termination. The adularia is sharp, translucent white and associated with some, but very little chlorite. Best quality meets unbeatable, unique aesthetics!
Typical for Zinggenstock, this smoky quartz specimen shows absolutely best quality. Superb crystals of intensive brown color are grown on a starkly contrasting white matrix, studded with some lovely adularia. The largest quartz is 3.7 cm long, limpid and perfectly lustrous on all sides, as are all other crystals on this wonderful specimen. The matrix is cut at the bottom but all naturally broken at the sides with no damage and hardly any contacts. One tiny little issue: The larger crystal has a wilbur at the tip. All the rest is in absolutely perfect condition which I consider a miracle when thinking of the rather harsh conditions on the mountain. In short: fantastic!
This iron rose is a real colossus! Thick, large, mirror-like plates of hematite are stacked together to form this heavy yet nicely developed specimen. The faces show lovely rosettes as is characteristic for Alpine hematite. The backside is smothered with silvery muscovite. The whole thing is in best condition with only very minor issues that are natural on a heavy and exceptional piece like this.
Mörchnerkar is known for yielding some of the best Alpine hematite where this specimen is just outstanding for the sheer size and the overwhelming beauty!
A marvelous sculpturesque skeletal quartz, 360° etched and beautiful. The quartz is completely water-clear with thousands of sparkling faces and great structure. Except for some hard to spot chips this crystal is in very good condition from bottom to top. An intriguing specimen of the rare etched type!
This is a rich and lustrous rutile on matrix from Grieswies that shows rutile crystals up to a little over 1 cm. The rutile is developed as knee-twins and shows very good luster! The crystals are generally opaque but show a dark red shimmer at downlight due to some gemmy red patches. The overall aesthetics is great with the main crystal cluster sitting nicely atop the characteristic and well contrasting matrix. This is an aesthetic rutile matrix piece of exceptionally fine quality with no damage at all!
This is quartz at its very best!
An impressive single crystal that is clear as glass with a perfect wet-look luster. It is almost colorless but shows a nice yellowish tinge throughout the whole crystal body. The sharp pointed termination is a bit rough at the tip but which apparently is not due to damage. Also the bottom, where it detached from the rock, is not freshly broken but fully re-healed.
As you can well see in our video, this is an elegant and truly fascinating specimen of Alpine quartz!
One of the very best pieces from the Weißeck "Gipfelkluft" that shows fascinating color zoning of blue and purple. The specimen features cubical crystals to 3 cm on edge with spectacular surface structure. It was found, together with only two other pieces, in a hole that opened deep inside the fluorite vein, where it was protected from the humic acid. The bottom is contacted, not broken. After many years in the collection of my father, Anton Watzl sen. this spectacular piece is now again available!
A single twin crystal of intensive color and great luster and in very good condition. The tip has some irregularities but which is old and re-healed. What very much strikes at this piece is the brilliant color that varies from a fresh apple green to an amber brown at the upper center. A very sharp, distinct and well developed little arrow-head of brilliant Alpine titanite!
The main crystal here is close to 3 cm in diateter and 0.8 cm thick which is just outstanding for the locale, especially if you consider the brilliant quality! Totally glassy and lustrous with fine needles of greenish byssolite at the inside. This is a floater that is, with the exception of one or two small dings, in best condition. A real marvel all around and exceptionally rare for this famous locale!
A dominant and massy cluster of water-clear, colorless quartz with best luster all around and only very few peripheral issues. A small chip at the termination is re-healed. The whole piece has a greeninsh tinge due to some chlorite which is present but not too much to distract from the beauty of this rock. The bottom is completely crystallized and covered in green byssolite which also shines through the glassy quartz. A distinctly 3-dimensional piece of 360° beauty (go on, watch our video!) that shows great Alpine character!
