Imposing like a mountain, littered with masses of sparkling adularia! Atop this mountain stands a dominant structure of metallic black hematite, well contrasting against the background. The hematite shows lovely rosettes of mirroring hematite on otherwise rather thick plates! Along the left side and the back is an amount of chlorite and muscovite which is characteristic for this important locale!
All in all this is a somehow rough piece but completely free of damage and literally studded with high quality crystals!

AP8 - Titanite and Adularia - Sold
Amertal, Felbertal, Pinzgau, Salzburg, Austria
Size: 4.4 x 4 x 2.1 cm
Watch Video

One doubly terminated titanite crystal horizontally lies across a small piece of matrix. While the middle section is set with some adularia crystals, both terminations are freely visible. The backside shows the countinuous titanite crystal, 4.4 cm long, but the luster is a little less bright and there is one chip right at the center which makes our choise for a main view obvious. All in all this is definitely an appealing specimen that is basically a floater of good quality!

The architecture of this quartz specimen is just incredibly complex! The main structure is a razor sharp pyramidal termination with distinctive "windows" that is just water-clear! Further down however, the crystal dissipates into an increasing number of smaller crystals, sparkling patterns and doubly terminated projecting alcoves. Absolutely mesmerizing in person, like a castle with hundreds of towers! Turning the piece around you see a massive quartz crystal but which is completely re-crystallized with highly lustrous and well structured surfaces all around. No damage, just mindblowing perfection!

A combination of very sharp quartz crystal with attached hematite on a matrix that is coverend in adularia! The matrix is a complete floater that shows beautiful crystallizations of white adularia and metallic black hematite which makes for a fantastic contrast! The three main quartz crystals are clear and almost colorless with only a slight smoky tinge. Especially the larger crystal has a beautiful cover of hematite, but not too much to completely drown it. This is a remarkably beautiful quartz specimen from Val Gronda da Cavrein that shows best textbook aesthetics! One large main quartz surrounded by several side-crystals is perched on a well proportioned piece of rock matrix. The quartz is glassy and lustrous with only very few internal clouds. The chisel-tip termination is exceptionally sharp and completely flawless! Most unusual about this specimen however is the greenish layer that coveres the matrix. The surface is completely covered in transparent quartz which again grew over an association of chlorite and epidote, which is rare for the Swiss Alps and only characteristic for this valley! Very unusual and appealing in person!

A true masterpiece of just perfect composition and outstanding quality! The dramatic "V"-shape of the (not repaired!) epidote crystals in combination with snow-white albite for contrast is simply amazing. Pure textbook aesthetics! There is one small contact at the left crystal - that thin part that surmounts the thicker crystal right where the small white albite sits. Top aesthetic pieces of good size in combination with white albite are "super rare"! Therefore and because of their sheer beauty these are among the highest and most desirable goals we are looking for from the famous Knappenwand. The quartz is lustous and limpid to the very most part with only some internal cracks but really not much! The bottom is completely re-crystallized and free of damage. Overall the condition is extremely well and if it were not for rough edge at the backside I would call it perfect! A very likeable specimen of great quality and appeal!

The backside is a 3-dimensional landscape of adularia and chlorite.
