This group of stacked cubical fluorite and transparent, colorless calcite is arranged in a very distinctive mushroom shape. QR8 - Quartz - Sold
Hoher Sonnblick, Rauris, Pinzgau, Salzburg, Austria
Size: 12.2 x 3.9 x 3.2 cm
Watch Video

The crystal quality of this single quartz specimen is way beyond average. Fantastic clarity on a crystal that is not exactly colorless but shows a slightly smoky, somewhat golden tinge. But that is not even the most impressive and important part. What is most unusual here is the mesmerizing surface structure! While the termination strikes with one single face that is plain and lustrous like a window pane, further down there is a lot going on. Embedded in highly lustrous, sparkling, striated prism faces there is an unusual rhombic shape like frosted glass, framed by bevelled edges. Very unique and beautiful in person! The backside has an old contact that is all re-crystallized. The condition is incredibly good, leaving no downsides on this spectacular quartz specimen! It was found by Ludwig Rasser from whom it went to the collection of Ingeborg and Anton Watzl sen.
