Black calcite from Herja is a unique and utterly appealing mineral variety. Especially unusual are the sharply zoned half-white, half-black specimens like this one. It is a complete floater, nicely shaped of stacked, flattened calcite crystals and shows the distinctive color change. The black color is due to inclusions of boulangerite and jamesonite which is unique for the locale. There is some minor edgewear present but all in all this piece is in great condition with no actual damage. An eye-catcher for any collection of classic European minerals!
This hematite plate confidently sits ond a grey piece of matrix, elevated, prominent and accompanied by doubly terminated, clear quartz. The hematite is well emphasized by the stark contrast and the mirroring luster of its lovely structured surface. The main hematite plate has a staggering 3.5 cm in diameter and is, to crown it all, studded with fire red rutile. At some spots on the backside there are older contacts visible but there is no damage to be found anywhere on this piece. A gorgeous specimen from Cavradi, famous for high quality minerals specimens!
Not exactly Alpine, this cut Amethyst comes from Maissau in the northern part of Austria which is geologically part of the Bohemian Massif. Maissau counts among the worlds largest accessible Amethyst veins but as there is no active mining there it is hard to come by collectible pieces. This is a rare cut and polished amethyst of considerable size for the locale with brilliant glassy quality. Different color zonations from light to dark purple and some brownish yellow zones make an astonishingly beautifuly picture. Very attractive and rare!
Like shards of intensive orange glass these wulfenite crystals stick in a brittle, clay-colored piece of matrix. Chaotic yet sculpturesque and of highest San Francisco Mine quality. All crystals are gemmy clear like windowpanes with bevelled edges. There is very minimal damage present, nothing you would have to worry about. The overall visual impact is just great with a particularly pronounced 3rd dimension as our video clearly shows. Lovely and very catchy!
I love the well balanced aesthetics of this fine smoky quartz specimen. One single main crystal of exceptional quality freely stands out from a perfectly proportioned piece of matrix. In association with smaller side-crystals and some white feldspar the focus is definitely on the main crystal but the surroundings does its part as well! The main smoky quartz is straight, glassy, extremely lustrous and shows a well developed termination. A jewel in any respect!
This is a pristine doubly terminated smoky quartz crystal that shows best luster at the frontside - the backside is somewhat more dull but still good - and some sparkling association of mica and smaller quartz crystals. There is no damage to speak of only microscopic abrasions at the termination. A truly brilliant specimen of excellent aesthetics and superb quality!
The 3-dimensional aesthetics of this crocoite specimen is just outstanding and utterly appealing! The very dark brown and contrasting matrix forms a perfect base for an artfully arranged composition of crocoite crystals up to around 6 cm in length and 0.5 cm thick! The crystals show a very intense orange-red color and great luster as is rather outstanding for this mineral. With no visible damage, best quality and intriguing aesthetics, this is a true highlight from the worlds most famous crocoite mine!
A doubly terminated colorless quartz crystal carries an amethyst like a crystalline backpack. The color is pale yet lovely and easily visible. Both crystals are in exceptionally good condition, with nice surface structure and great luster. This is a highly aesthetic floater specimen, unusually composed, virtually flawless and brilliant!
It's 2 cm thick, perfect all around and with a charming waxy cream-color that shines from the translucent crystal! At the base of the main crystal is a cluster of smaller crystals as well as some matrix and minimal adularia. The main adularia is chloritized around the corners, just in the right amount to boost the aesthetics but not cloud the fascinating clarity of the crystal. The bottom is to the very largest part crystallized and evenly perfect.
A magnificent adularia specimen of high perfection and very attractive aesthetics!
An utterly beautiful and aesthetic quartz specimen of best quality! The main quartz crystal is glassy, perfect and superbly lustrous! At the lower parts there are some green chlorite inclusions which adds a very nice color effect! At the crystals base is a cluster of smaller side crystals and cream-colored pericline. The overall aesthetics of this specimen is just marvelous, the quality is striking!
What a striking specimen, consisting of numerous crystlas of cavansite, situated on an excitingly contrasting, white matrix of stilbite. While cavansite is pretty common over all, this specimen is very different from the crowd. The matrix of this piece is very 3-dimensional, which looks extraordinaryly fine in person and makes this specimen so unique. It is richly loaded of royal blue crystals up to 2.8 cm in size and with bright luster. Both, the cavansite and the stilbite are sparkling in person, what is not visible on the photos and make this a choice specimen. Much better in person!
The lead ore of Daoping produced some of the finest specimens of this beautiful material and impresses with fresh apple green color and well developed hexagonal prisms. The crystals are richly distributed in a vug-like structure over a first generation of white quartz. The matrix is natural and crystallized on the outside too, with only some contacts. Overall a very attractive specimen of high quality pyromorphite that has a very 3-dimensional appeal!
