This sharp and brilliant axinite specimen is from the classic locale in Le Bourg-d’Oisans and shows one very well defined crystal of characteristic brown color with a slight purple tinge. The axinite – a ferro-axinite to be precise – is a super brilliant marvel in person! It is extremely sharp and 100% perfect! The surface is higly lustrous on all sides and shows nice striations. The 2.8 cm long main crystal itself is especially glassy, like a scalpel made of glass! The axinite sits on a small yet perfectly proportioned piece of matrix that is again studded by small axinite and green epidote crystals. Concerning aesthetics and quality this is one very striking specimen from the Type Locality!
A fabulous thick twin crystal of vibrant green titanite is set atop a marvelous matrix with sparkling white albite! Shape and quality of the main crystal are stunning in person! The surface is super lustrous on all sides with intriguing structures and striations all over. Being thus thick and meaty it shows particularly strong and open color. The crystal prominently sits atop a wonderful matrix that presents a glittering fireworks of white albite that stand out agains the somewhat grey matrix in a distinctively 3-dimensional way. There is absolutely no damage here, only uttermost perfection and beauty!
This rose quartz specimen has the aesthetics of a nice piece of jewelry. Rose quartz crystals of distinctive pink color are fanning out from the center forming a disc shape with a jagged outline. Condition, quality and color are exceptionally fine and beautiful on this excellent rose quartz specimen!
This epidote from the Alpine-type clefts of the Haramosh Mountains is an excellent floater of parallel grown crystals. The longest crystal is around 9 cm long and dominant between a couple of smaller crystals. It is gemmy with nice forest green color at direct backlight. It shows a wonderful crystallization and is sharp all around and in very good condition. An attractive specimen for any collector of those famous Alpine-type minerals!
An excellent combination specimen that features two sharp and gemmy topaz crystals with nice champagne color. The topazes are set on a cluster of transparent quartz, sparkling white albite and some brownish mica. Some peripheral microcrystals of schorl and garnet are present as well. The main topaz at the top is 2.7 cm long and completely transparent without anything to disturb the view. It is very well cut with a bevelled, highly lustrous termination. The second topaz shows equal quality at a length of 1.9 cm. An overall fascinating piece in appealing cabinet size!
A beautiful composition of absolutely brilliant fluorite octahedrons and white short prismatic quartz. The fluorites are situated at the upper ridge which lets them really shine with intensive green color even at roomlight illumination. The condition is outstanding all around!
This is pristine high quality adularia clustered on a white feldspar matrix. The main crystals here are of glassy, gemmy quality with superb luster and sharply developed as is extremely rare in Alpine pieces! Being in very best condition this is an exceptional piece of Alpine feldspar!
Ex Wolfgang Vötter collection!
This amazing quartz has brilliant quality and very unique and elegant aesthetics! The main crystal is all glassy and super-lustrous with some includions but which doesn't take anything from its beauty. It is accompanied by a smaller side-crystals, a doubly terminated quartz at the base. That side-crystal is repaired once but which is hardly visible at all. There is some residual rock matrix around the base, the rest is all nicely crystallized quartz in best condition.
A single doubly terminated quartz lies atop a lovely piece of matrix: silvery mica-schist with a crust of muscovite and pericline atop. The quartz is 5.9 cm long, totally glassy and lustrous and in excellent condition. A very well defined specimen from this uncommon locale near Schwarzenstein mountain.
Now this is really an adorable combination of hematite with feldspar on quartz!
As you can see in the picture the quartz is completely transparent, lustrous and sharp. It is well shaped all around with only a contact at the backside but no damage!
Grown on and even inside this fine quartz are metallic black tabular hematites up to 1.8 cm in diameter that are lined up like pearls on a string with the largest crystal sitting at the very top!
If you are looking for exceptional pieces of stunning aesthetics then this specimen might be just perfect for you!
The main amethyst sceptre has a total length of 3.5 cm and shows very nice transparent quality. The surface is lustrous, slightly frosted, and shows a subtle structure. Quite characteristic for the locale the purple color is limited to the sceptres head where it is especially strong towards the sharp pointed termination.
The main crystal is embedded in nice sheets of muscovite and accompanied by quartz side-crystals. This group again is surrounded by the matrix which is a mix of quartz and feldspar with veins of mica.
The classic aesthetics of this specimen accounts for its age. It has been found by Franz Tuma (Oberwart, Burgenland) in Summer 1994 which is documented by a sign at the specimens bottom.
It's a fantastic combination of spessartine on quartz that gets more beautiful the more you look at it! While this type of crystal is well known from the locale this is certainly an exceptional piece of highest quality and perfection. The garnet is completely gemmy and with a vibrant cherry-red color! The beautiful surface structure is very well developed all around and shows no damage at all! What makes this specimen unique however is the combination with highly lustrous and undamaged quartz. We haven’t seen anything like that in such high quality and perfection!
