It needs some illumination, true. But when provided, this specimen offers a spectacular view of bright colors and an unusually pretty shape! As you can see in the video, the amount of necessary backlight is not too high anyway and you are easily able to reveal a color-play that is totally unique. It's like a striking cherry-red tourmaline with a perfectly modified termination grows out of another, fresh apple-green tourmaline. At the backside you find some white adularia as a side-mineral. The bottom of this fabulous specimen is terminated. Except for one tiny chip at the back side of the upper termination, which is not visible when observed from the front, this tourmaline is in a very good condition. Beautiful and simply outstanding!
This is a high class rubellite with excellent textbook aesthetics. It has been found in spring last year at the famous cruzeiro mine in Brazil. The crystal is of bright pink color with juicy, cherry red terminations. I love the combination with small lepidolite and white muscovite as well as the stepped growth of the crystal. The bottom is crystallized and covered in lepidolite as well, leaving no contact or broken patch. Flawless and well balanced all around, this piece is a highly attractive choice for any advanced collection!
A perfect 6.2 cm smoky quartz crystal is accompanied by a smaller, 4.1 cm long side-crystal of matching quality. The quartz is all clear and lustrous, sharp and without damage. The main crystal has a minimal issue at the front but which is fully re-healed. A nice little specimen without compromise.
A single sharp and well shaped anatase crystal on a contrasting white albite matrix. The black crystal shows the dipyramidal shape with modified terminiation that is typical for Hardangervidda anatase. The surface shows metallic luster while admittedly the back faces are much more lustrous, mirroring in fact, where the front faces are a bit dull in comparison. Most striking about this piece is the perfect composition anyway, the well balanced proportions of matrix and anatase. An absolutely appealing piece with a large 1.3 cm crystal and no considerable damage!
Unusually shaped like a twinsting tornado of sharp and intensively red vanadinite. Especially the frontside shows crystals of brilliant quality, while the also well crystallized backside is largely covered in a ochre-colored coating. Still, the most unusual part about this piece is the shape which, apart from one tiny ding at the backside, just perfect all around. A beautiful floater with sharp, strawberry-red crystals attractively arranged!
Impressive in size, quality and due to its unique composition this is a fantastic piece and actually one of the most beautiful Swiss quartz specimens we have ever layed eyes on! It has been found by Alfons Derungs and was for many years a center piece of his collection. Every single crystal is in absolutely perfect condition with sharp termination and highest luster. The quartz is gemmy with nice smaller phantoms at some spots. At the backside of the main crystals you find smaller attached crystals that are beautifully reflecting through the glassy quartz. A fabulous cluster of quartz on a matrix that provides a stark contrast. We are proud to be able to present such an extraordinary piece!
Definitely one of the nicer fluorite pieces I have seen so far, coming from Göschener Alp. An absolutely lovey floater that holds a composition of brilliant pink fluorite and contrasting white adularia. All crystals are of high quality. Bright color, a limpid inside and wonderful luster. Aside of one or two contacts at the back this piece is free of any damage and remarkably appealing all around.
This is an amazingly rich and beautiful specimen of octahedral fluorite on white needle-quartz. The fluorites are all in best condition, transparent and with a nice satin surface. What's special about the fluorites from this find is the color, green at the center with distinctive purple edges! The backside is a massive green fluorite matrix. This specimen has an appealing overall shape and great color contrast!
This is a brilliant and particularly aesthetic fluorite specimen. A single colorless fluorite cube is based atop a lovely crystallzid matrix, accompanied by rhombohedral calcite crystals. The fluorite is water-clear to the core with a shiny surface. The cube is almost coplete with seven visible corners one of which, the one at the very front, is nicely modified. An overall attractive spcimen of outstanding quality and striking aesthetics!
Who doesn't know the unique emerald from Habach Valley? This silvery piece of characteristic mica schist holds one gemmy emerald crystal of saturated water green color that is a staggering 2.8 cm long! The elongated, 3-dimensional matrix provides a beautiful and eye-catching base for the remarkable embedded crystal. The Leckbachrinne in Habach Valley is Europe's best locality for emerald crystals, known since the time of the old Romans. Great color and highly attracive aesthetics are marking this specimen as a major example for this famous locale!
A highly unusual, pincer-shaped smoky quartz specimen that is utterly unique. The transparent quartz is massively modified at one half with a manifold of lustrous faces yet shows straight quartz crystallization on the other half - even if the growth pattern is hard to recognize. As a floater this quartz seems flawless on all sides except for one, not quite obvious damage at the tip of the smaller part of the pincer. An eye-catcher for the collector of unusual crystal shapes or appealing, unique Alpine minerals!
Quartz from the Koralpe in Styria, a very old rock mass, is not found easily which makes this a great collectors piece. The color of this smoky quartz is absolutely top, a warm brown, dark and intense. The frontside shows jsut brilliant luster. The backside is another story, it is heavily broken and contacted. Fortunately the termination is largely intact with only some edgewear. Definitely a great piece for the locale despite some drawbacks but which are only visible from the backside.
