This colossal apatite crystal was found by Anton Paluc (see the attached picture) at the Saukopf area which is now a nature reserve and thus closed for collecting. And that's unfortunate, considering the superb quality and tremendous size of this crystal! The 2.7 cm thick colorless apatite is part translucent, part transparent. The front face is lustrous, backside and the sides are a bit rough but still in good quality. At the bottom and the left side the crystal is contacted and intergrown with some feldspar and mica. Massive size, good quality and the rare locale make this an outstanding collector's piece! Ex. Dr. Alexander Spunda Coll.

At the backside there is an accompanying larger crystal which is cleaved but re-healed. Some schorl is present at the bottom which is characteristic for the locale. Very impressive in person for the unusual shape and the good quality!
