WK07 - Microcline var. Amazonite and Quartz - Sold
Mt. Malosa, Zomba District, Malawi
Size: 13.5 x 9 x 7 cm

The single amazonite crystal of just staggering size, sharpness and with rather intensive water-blue color concurrently acts as the main attraction of this specimen and as a contrasting matrix for a group of single isolated, parallel orientated smoky quartz crystals. There is some edgewear present but except for some peripheral issues there is no damage and all crystals are entire. Most special about this specimen surely is the color, which is more than rare at Mt. Malosa, where usually orthoclase or microcline with very faint color is found. Very exceptional and definitely impressive!

The dramatic size of this single augelite crystal is just outstanding! It comes with a deep but still refreshing green color, is lustrous and aside of some contacted zones in perfect condition. Clusters of glassy quartz needles, among them japanese twins(!), are a lovely addition (if not the completion) of this great piece. To see the full extent of this specimens beauty you totally have to watch the video!

Distinctly 3-dimensional, sculpturally composed and in very good condition this is a unusual and striking piece. Like blossoms the larger quartz crystals are encompassed by a second generation of smaller side-crystals. Some accessory hematite adds a nice contrast to the otherwise white or limpid specimen. We recommend a look on our video for a better impression!

Aesthetically composed, this piece is a very sculptural specimen of pink fluorite, vertically stacked upon a piece of matrix. The crystal's faces show some kind of coating or inclusions but beneath that the fluorite is clear and shows great color. The whole piece is translucent and shines in backlight illumination. It is practically free of damage save for a couple of minor wear, not visible from the front or at casual observance. A very fine fluorite specimen indeed.

MF16 - Fluorite with Apophyllite - Sold
Gotthard tunnel, Switzerland

The outline of this wonderful specimen reminds me of the Mountains where it has been found. In the seventies a 17 km long tunnel has been drilled right through the central St. Gotthard Massiv and is now one of the longest and most important road tunnels of the world. Minerals where hardly of greater concern at that time but fortunately for us a certain amount of the minerals found during the process has been recovered. One of those selected pieces is this fascinating pink fluorite. It is impressively lustrous, clear at the inside and covered in a sparkling layer of white apophyllite at the upper backside that gives the impression of a snow covered mountaintop. This apophyllite is quite typical for tunnel-pieces but otherwise quite rare and well asked for. The bottom of the fluorite is cleaved or in parts contacted but the main part is in excellent condition and very much elegant.

Highly lustrous hematite crystals up to 2.5 cm in diameter are clustered across a heavy matrix like a sparkling crown. The hematite is associated with small quartz needles as is characteristic for the locale. The metallic luster has a red tinge to it, revealed at closer inspection under direct downlight. Marvelous and intriguingly picturesque, this paragenesis shows a well balanced combination of tourmaline, mica and feldspar. The whole group of crystals is arranged atop a large white feldspar crystal that is well visible at the pieces left side (the feldspar is broken and re-crystallized at the unspectacular backside as you can very well see in the video). The lower half of the piece is dominated by nice blue cleavelandite, associated with white mica. The further up you look, the more you get excited about the rich presence of gemmy pink rubellite, sparkling and dominant with brilliant color and quality! A fantastically aesthetic specimen in near-perfect condition that impresses with a great variety of beautiful details!
