It is extremely hard to find good colorless quartz gwindel as most of gwindels show at least some faint smoky color. But this one doesn't and it is just great in composition and quality! The gwindel sits on a small piece of grey-brown matrix and is accompanied by several smaller side-crystals. There is a contacted spot at the lower front but which does not disturb at all. The trapezoid shape tapers to a only 1.5 cm broad termination which leads to a very distinct twist at the upper part. The gwindel body is water-clear with a beautifully structured, lustrous surface. Concerning the condition of this fantastic specimen I can say that you would need a loup to identify the tiny ding at the termination that anyway is only visible from the backside. Absolutely brilliant and extremely rare in such high quality and excellent aesthetics!
WOW! This specimen exactly presents what most of the collectors are looking for! A dominant, very clear and perfect crystal is shooting out of a crystallized matrix like a rocket! The contrast with the brwonish matrix is highlighting the crystal very well, which is highly lustrous and brilliant. The tip of the crystal is razor sharp and not just going to a point, what looks gorgeous! I have very rarely seen a piece like this, but especially not without a repaired crystal. Most are coming off due heavy blasting at the mining process in the Cavradi cleft, but not this one. It is very hard to show the high quality on pictures, but the vido speaks for itself!
A perfect thumbnail of pure textbook aesthetics! One gemmy and clear tourmaline of brilliant green color protrudes from a matrix of white albite to form this pretty piece. The tourmaline is perfect, the albite is generally in good condition but shows some damage, which is hardly visible due to its chaotic arrangement. A fine and astonishingly well composed specimen!
This piece looks like a warped, weathered and overgrown version of a perfect smoky quartz specimen. The heavy etching that took place here still left enough of the quartz and its side-crystal to maintain insight to the original impression. Adularia crystals that are grown on and into the quartz are very much perfecting the picture. The condition is just about perfect as the only contacts there are are at the bottom and thus not visible. A fantastic piece that shows us what a skilful carver nature can be.
A high quality quartz crystal, accompanied by iron oxide coated adularia, some matrix and small amounts of associated hematite. The main quartz crystal is completely clear and has a brilliantly sparkling surface. The tip is contacted but aside of that it's just perfect. An appealing specimen of amazing crystal quality and great aesthetics!
The combination of minerals on this piece is just awesome! One single pinkish apatite crystal beautifully sits atop a matrix of diopside accompanied by white calcite. Still the rich color variety of this piece is very much owed to some iron oxide and a green side-mineral we were not quite able to identify under the microscope. An chemical analysis would be necessary but to be frank: the beauty of this outstanding piece is not to be measured in numbers and words. The apatite is of very good quality, being glassy and lustrous with a slight pinkish tinge. A remarkable composition!
This dramatic titanite is out of a spectacular new find from this spring (2016). The titanite sits on a white feldspar matrix that provides a fantastic contrast for the dark mossy green crystal. The frontside is lustrous and completely free of chlorite which is unusual for pieces from this locale. This specimen is a more or less complete floater that is crystallized on all sides but with a cracked patch at the bottom. The titanite itself is rather large and has around 3.5 cm in diameter. An excellent piece for this quarry and the Alps as a whole.
A large, left handed quartz crystal, 5.5 cm in diameter, carries several smaller crystals, nicely intergrown with white feldspar. The terminations are only slightly overgrown with chlorite, just so much that you can still see inside the completely transparent crystals. The side faces are free of chlorite and lustrous. The somehow chaotic shape of this unusual specimen is totally irresistible and exceptionally beautiful. A flawless piece of pure, untamed beauty!
Boleite is an extremely rare halide mineral that has almost exclusively been found in the type locality Boleo in Mexico and comes as indigo blue cubes on matrix or in this case as a floater crystal. The 6.5 mm on edge cube is lustrous blue with gemmy patches. Most special however ist the tetrahedral cumengeite that is set on each of the six square faces. Cumengeite, another halite, is also exclusive to Boleo but is even much rarer. The combination of those two species is equally stunning and classic. A specimen that could only come from this legendary locale! The composition is very well defined and in best condition. Best thing to do if you hold this piece in hands is to grab a loupe and have a very close look on the shiny surface, the distinct crystallization and the green side mineral - probably atacamite - that surrounds the tetrahedral cumengeite. Really a fantastic little specimen if you have a sympathy for rarities!
A number of water-clear, colorless fluorite cubes up to 1.3 cm on edge are scattered about a nice sand colored matrix. This matrix is all natural with smaller crystals on all sides. Between the fluorite you will find some white calcite as well as some microcrystals of pyrite and galena. This is a very natural specimen, classic and without any damage. It was found in 2009 and part of the DI Wilfried Schlosser collection in Vienna (label included) for several years.
This is a exceptionally large cluster of intergrown amethyst crystals of beautiful violet color. In fact this must have been a complex scepter head before it broke off and rehealed at the backside. Unfortunately the very tip of the central termination is damaged but to be honest, a large piece like this from Mörchnerkar would cost a small fortune if it was perfect. This is nevertheless an impressive piece, showing the great quality an Alpine amethyst could reach!
This is an outstanding etched quartz specimen with impressive size that shows exceptionally rich structure, color and just beautiful details! The unusual etched shape reveals its secrets when you turn the piece around (go ahead and watch our video for a look on this aspect). You can see on the flat prism faces, that this was once a huge single quartz crystal that only later dissolved to form this remarkable piece! That’s long-age geographic history made visible in one dramatic specimen! The quality is high, showing very good clarity and great luster. Some surface chloritisation at the back radiates dark green color throughout the whole crystal. Absolutely stunning and beautiful in person!
