Not only are citrine quartz specimens from Austria exceedingly rare. This one has totally unique aesthetics as well!
The doubly terminated citrine is horizontally set atop a colorless quartz which is doubly terminated as well and free of damage. What an unusual and attractive piece!
The crystal quality is quite good. Both crystals show bright luster and are sharply developed. The yellow color is not overyl intense but you won’t find bright yellow crystals in the Alps. Still, the contrast between the citrine and the colorless quartz is there and easily visible.
The piece was found in 2018.

It is completely pristine without even the smallest abrasion. A superb singly crystal specimen from this classic Alpine locale!

Typical for the area where it was found, this quartz shows the very best crystal quality and also a captivating composition. The 10.2 cm specimen consists of a double row of first-class crystals with a distinct Ticino habit. Whichever way you turn the piece, it shows brilliant quality and a beautiful three-dimensional structure. The surface of the crystals is highly lustrous and sometimes shows unique structures. The underside of the piece is also not broken, but completely crystallized.
Take a look at our video where you can much better see the sweeping composition of this marvelous quartz!

Finding a good and appealing scheelite from the Austrian Alps is next to impossible. Luckily this excellent single crystal exemplar was part of the Karl Podpeskar collection that we recently acquired.
And it is a fabulous specimen indeed! Perfect dipyramidal shape and juicy orange color are combined on this rare crystal that is complete all around and without any damage. Both tips are somewhat rough but which is contact induced, not damaged. The crystal is translucent, in parts even transparent and shows very nice luster. It was found by Hubert Fink around the year 1990.

XI082 - Quartz with Clinochlore and Calcite - 1000€
Krumltal, Rauris, Pinzgau, Salzburg, Austria
Size: 12.3 x 6.7 x 5 cm

This Alpine paragenesis impresses with its unusual composition. A single doubly terminated quartz is surrounded at its base by a group of whitish calcites, as well as bunches of gray clinochlorite and tiny pyrite crystals on the back. Everything is in excellent condition. A minimal abrasion on the tip and some damaged side-crystals on the lower backside are the only minor shortcomings and are certainly acceptable for such a unique piece.

WR450 - Emerald - 2300€
Leckbachrinne, Habachtal, Pinzgau, Salzburg, Austria
Size: 12.8 x 7 x 6.5 cm

With a size of 12.8 cm and individual crystals reaching up to 1.3 cm, this is a remarkable specimen of the famous Habach valley emerald site. What I particularly like here is the way several emeralds are distributed over the silvery mica-schist matrix, making the piece an excellent showpiece. The quality of the crystals themselves is impressive as well. Rich green color shines from the transparent and well defined hexagonal prismatic emeralds, contrasting well with the silvery matrix. A marvelous specimen for every collection of fine Alpine minerals!
Ex Karl Podpeskar collection.

SD896 - Quartz Sceptre - 650€

It's a briliant little sceptre quartz from the Kruml valley, a real jewel! The quartz is clear as glass, highly lustrous all around and sharp. It shows a distinctive sceptre head that, in shape and quality, reminds me of a herkimer diamond. There are some growth irregularities present but even with the loupe I can’t see any damage.

LE907 - Hematite - 3700€
Mörchnerkar, Zemmgrund, Zillertal, Tyrol, Austria
Size: 8 x 4.1 x 4 cm

What a lovely and highly attractive specimen: A hematite rose is set on glassy white adularia with a side-cluster of silvery mica.
The single iron rose has a diameter of 2.8 cm, it is brilliantly lustrous and nicely developed. All here is in best condition and has a distinct and well balanced aesthetics. A classic Mörchnerkar-specimen!
Ex Karl Podpeskar collection.

TK085 - Fluorite on Quartz - 460€
Galenstock, Rhone Glacier, Wallis, Switzerland
Size: 3.8 x 2.4 x 1.9 cm

What you see here is a fully chloritized fluorite on the tip of a quartz crystal. The main fluorite is sharp and well developed and, despite the heavy chloritization, quite lustrous! It is accompanied by some smaller fluorites, all in best condition. The quartz has some chlorite too but not as much and still retains its transparency. On the backside it is somewhat rough with little feldspar crystals but also here it is not broken.
A lovely and nicely aesthetic miniature specimen!
