This quartz is out of an old find. Typical for the locale, it is of pristine quality with high luster and clarity. Most remarkable about this piece is the combination of elongated prismatic crystals on a base of shorter crystals of a completely different crystal habit. One quartz crystal, protruding in an odd angle and thus showing a crooked appearance, is in fact a doubly terminated crystal clamped amidst the other crystals. This is truly a remarkable piece of unusual character and in good condition.
This smaller specimen is a nice combination of two tourmaline crystals on white blades of albite. While this piece is a floater, unfortunately one of the crystals is broken at the bottom - you can still see its imprint in the larger albite crystal. The lower half of the tourmalines is completely dark but changes to a light yellowish and limpid zone at the top. A very lovely piece of nice aesthetics.
One single barite crystal that is clear as a window and completely free of damage protrudes from a beautiful dolomite matrix. Perfectly composed with textbook proportion and some evenly pristine side-crystals. A brilliant piece in very good condition!
What immediately lets me think of an Alpine quartz specimen is in fact from Pakistan! The piece shows very good quartz quality, great clarity, luster and distinctive development! The chaotic, 3-dimensional arrangement provides a very natural look, the iron oxide coating adds some color and live!
This whole specimen is in very good condition, all main crystals are flawless. The bottom is crystallized making this piece a floater with only some peripheral contacts. An appealing piece of exceptional character!
A large, brilliant single calcite crystal of high quality, transparent and lustrous. The honey yellow color is especially strong at the tip of the scalenohedron, getting paler to the bottom, where the crystal sits on a grey piece of matrix. The crystal is in overall well condition with only a very small chip at the pointed termination. A striking piece of straight, well balanced aesthetics!
The shape of this exceptionally nice prase specimen reminds me of a sailing ship on its way from Serifos Island where the high time of this famous green quartz is long gone due to a legal prohibition. The translucent crystals are 3-dimensionally arranged and in perfect condition. With only some smaller broken sidecrystals the overall impact of this piece is just astounding and unusually striking. A great piece of this more and more rare mineral that gets its unique green color from tiny inclusions of hedenbergite or actinolite.
Bright golden pyrite crystals of striated cubical shape are stacked on this classic yet impressive specimen!
The cubes are all in marvelous condition with only insignificant abrasions. The largest one reaches a bit over 3 cm on edge.
The specimens backside is all crystallized with micro-crystals of pyrite, sphalerite and calcite.
Very good crystal quality, condition and composition from the lesser known Racracancha mine.
This is a very lively and organic example of the rare cadmian smithsonite. An aggragate of translucent honey-yellow scalenohedral crystals up to around 1.2 cm in size, associated with some green malachite, partly included in the smithsonite. A distinctly 3-dimensional landscape as you very well can see in our video!
A single ball of gem clear phenakite in absolute perfection! The floater is super lustrous on all sides with beautiful surface structure. Its interior is completely colorless and virtually free of impurities or cracks. A perfect marvel of considerable size for this rare gemstone mineral!
As you can instantaneously see on the picture, this piece is a real killer! One single amethyst with a spotless sharp termination and incredibly deep purple coloring sitting on a contrasting piece of sparkling white quartz-matrix all in perfectly well condition. The surface of the amethyst shows marvelous mirroring luster and a very fine, beautiful structure. The lower backside is contacted, plus there is one chip, but fortunately this is in no way visible on the spectacular main view. The literally mesmerizing color is radiating from this piece even at low illumination and almost exploding at direct light. A wonderful piece of pristine quality that found its way to 2015 "Extra Lapis - Amethyst" (issue 49).
This is without question one of the very best hübnerite specimen I have seen im my life. We luckily got it out of the miners personal collection, where is lay for many years. There is absolutely no flaw on this piece and the quality of every single crystal is simply amazing. All pieces are perfectly fitting here. You have larger quartz crystals at the bottom to support the vertically oriented hübnerite - lustrous, perfectly terminated and with a red color that is revealed at direct illumination. Small but perfectly gemmy quartz needles are playfully blending into this spectacular picture. The specimen is very 3-dimensional and crystallized on all sides. Go ahead, watch our video! You will be positively surprised!
Fluorite from Weißeck are particularly admired for their beauty, the uncommon color and the rareness. As many Weißeck specimens this fluorite changes the color depending on the illumination: the purple you can see on the picture and the video changes to a deep ocean-blue when exposed to white light!
All crystals are nicely developed, transparent and lustrous, especially on the main view. Save for one small contacted patch at the bottom this piece is all crystallized, well developed and free of damage!
It was found at the summit area in the local permafrost soil where it was protected from humic acid etchings and thus kept its luster!
