The piece is composed of nested cubic fluorites with an intense purple color which makes for very nice aesthetics. The crystals are relatively dark but translucent. The surface is velvety matt and largely undamaged. Contacts can only be seen at the edges. Especially around the top, however, the crystals are nicely formed and complete.
If you shine a strong light into the crystal at the very top, you can see an excellent phatom. Deep purple on the inside, then a greenish zone, delicate purple on the outside. Absolutely beautiful! The backside is covered in white calcites, as can be seen on the video.

While both fluorite and aquamarine aren’t exactly rare at the Erongo region, but it is the combination of both which makes this specimen special and unique. Individual pieces with this combination are known and have been found since the year 2000. However, the vast majority is relatively clumsy and unappealing. This specimen is from a new find and it exceeds everything that we have seen so far.
It has the sweeping aesthetics of a crown of bright green fluorites over a three-dimensional stack of aquamarines. The fluorites are exceptionally brigth green and show the characteristic purple eges which makes it particularly vibrant! Especially if you add some backlight it really glows! The crystals are all undamaged. The backside is contacted but not broken. The aquamarine crystals show distinctive blue color, they are lustrous and glassy and have flat terminations. This is a remarkably three-dimensional specimen with an appealing richness of crystals, all interlocked and adding to the overall aesthetics.

This single quartz crystal shows absolutely stunning quality and captivating appeal! It has sparkling luster, excellent clarity and a distinctive and unusual tapered shape. The crystal has a size of 11.7 cm and was found in the Krumltal, a side valley of Rauris valley. Luster, transparency and shape are really beautiful here and the crystal has a nice golden color that originates in iron oxide coatings and inclusions. At closer inspection you will also find some rutile inclusions near the base. The specimen is in exceptionally well condition with hardly any abrasions at all.

This is a particularly nice and well shaped skeletal smoky quartz from the Val Giuv. The interior is crystal clear, the surface is finely structured and largely undamaged. Only at the bottom is a chip present but which is hardly discernible because of the vivid surface structure of the quarz. A distinctly three-dimensional, beautiful smoky quartz sculpture!
The left picture shows the piece with direct backlight, the right picture is in natural light only.

Vivid purple color, sparkling luster and appealing aesthetics. This amethyst specimen from the Kattumunnur mine is exceptionally beautiful in person. The main cluster of amethyst is set on a first generation of colorless quartz which adds a nice contrast to this specimen of pure quartz. The condition is overall very good with only some peripheral issues hardly any of which is at all visible from the stunning main view.

SB01 - Quartz Gwindel - Sold
Minas Gerais, Brazil
Size: 7.5 x 4.7 x 3 cm

What a stunning gwindel! While most of the gwindels comes from Switzerland, I was very surprised to find this brazilian Gwindel in an old european collection. The collector bought this specimen directly in brazil around 30 years ago and kept it until I bought it from him. It is situated on well crystalized calcite with small crystals of pyrrhotite. The specimen is in a very good condition except a small contat at the back and some extremely tiny edgewear very hardly visible without using a good lupe. A great gwindel and good enough even for the picky collector!

An extremely glassy topaz, with unusual intense, bright color. The termination is very sharp and at the lower side it is growing into some matrix, giving the whole specimen a matrixy character. Much better in person!

SO51 - Phenakite - Sold

This Phenakite comes from the only famous found of Phenakite ever made in the Austrian Alps. The strahler Franz Sieder found it in 1972 in the Leckbachrinne, Salzburg. This is the same area where the well known emeralds comes from. The crystal is well situated on the top of the matrix, showing well faces all around. It is free of damage with some areas of gem quality. It is the best specimen I have ever got from Austria and these are very hard to get nowadays, as all the pieces have disappeared from the market long time ago. Also from other alpine regions I have just very rarely seen any Phenakites of good quality and all these was very small! Ex Sieder, Knobloch and DI Kontrus collections! All labels included.
