The time of the Allenheads mine is longe gone but the limited number of fluorite specimens from that locale continue to shine. This large and richely crowded specimen is an association of white to yellowish fluorite, dark sphalerite and minor siderite. The largest fluorite is a completely glassy, lustrous cube with 1.2 cm on edge. Overall this is a fine paragenesis of great size from a classic locale that has been closed for almost 40 years now.
Deep strawberry red color, topped by a zone of satiated green strikes as the heart of this fabulous tourmaline specimen! The thick single crystal is gemmy and highly lustrous on all sides with nice striations and small attached side-crystals. Delicate and highly appealing to the eye this tourmaline offers light turquoise coloring with a distinct pink termination. A pink terminated side-crystal at the front face adds a nice aspect and breaks the straight shape. The termination of the main crystal shows an interesting and distinct imprint of another crystal that leaves an unusual shape, but is fully recrystallized. Atop the imprint, there is some white feldspar covering visible. Altogether the main property about this specimen is the graceful coloring that makes it memorable.
