The main amethyst sceptre has a total length of 3.5 cm and shows very nice transparent quality. The surface is lustrous, slightly frosted, and shows a subtle structure. Quite characteristic for the locale the purple color is limited to the sceptres head where it is especially strong towards the sharp pointed termination.
The main crystal is embedded in nice sheets of muscovite and accompanied by quartz side-crystals. This group again is surrounded by the matrix which is a mix of quartz and feldspar with veins of mica.
The classic aesthetics of this specimen accounts for its age. It has been found by Franz Tuma (Oberwart, Burgenland) in Summer 1994 which is documented by a sign at the specimens bottom.
It's a sceptre quartz specimen of distinctive design and very nice quality! The asymmetric head is lustrous and sharp and set on a stem that is only slightly less lustrous but also completely transparent. The condition is overall very good with only a tiny, hardly visible ding at the tip.
This 14.5 cm single crystal quartz shows dramatic luster and clarity and is virtually perfect from bottom to tip! One of the prism faces has a beautiful growth of pericline, smaller quartz crystals, limonite and hematite which adds much in respect of aesthetics and appeal!
Exceptionally dark and sharp crystal of smoky quartz in very best condition! The quartz is highly lustrous on all sides with fine surface striations. Inside the crystal it soon gets very dark and murky, only direct strong backlight is able to penetrate the almost black crystal - you would probably call this specimen a "morion". What you can't see in the picture is the broad chisel tip termination with a 1.5 cm blade, so sharp you could cut your finger with! Have a look on our video for that specific detail! A side-crystal at the base of the quartz adds much in terms of aesthetics. The bottom is contacted, not broken and there is no damage anywhere on the piece.
This group of white calcite crystals was found at the Ritterkopf massiv below the Glockkaserkar. It's a fine locality piece with interlocked crystals up to 2.8 cm with good clarity and nice waxy luster. There are minimal peripheral contacts and a small damage but most crystals are complete. In the video you can see how the backside is all natural.
Very dark brown color and a dominant massy main crystal define this excellent specimen! That main crystal is 3.5 cm thick, sharp and highly lustrous. The backside is a crystallized contact where the piece detached from the rock. Apart from that contact the piece is in superb condition and super-attractive in person!
The combination of sharp epidote crystals with silvery blueish byssolite is rather characteristic for the historic mineral locale Knappenwand and it's just amazingly beautiful in person!
A group of dark brown epidote crystals is nicely embedded in byssolite like rocks on the mountains are surrounded by soft grass. The main epidote has visible 2 x 1.1 cm, is sharp, lustrous and gemmy as soon as you add some backlight! While the whole piece has a more chaotic appearance there is no damage but only stacked crystals with re-crystallized contacts. A charming specimen of best quality for the admirer of unique natral mineral specimens with distinct natural appearance!
This is a rare smoky quartz specimen from the Ritterkopf that dates back to the 1980s. It is a stocky, glassy and highly lustrous crystal in very best condition with one small side-crystals that very much improves the aesthetics. While the upper half of the main smoky is all transparent and with a very nice brown color, it gets opaque and white further down with some limonite coating on the re-healed bottom faces. All in all this is an uncommon and highly appealing piece in superb condition!
Brilliant colorless quartz in a lovely three-dimensional arrangement! The quality of the quartz crystals is amazingly good: Glassy crystals with superb luster and sharp architecture!
As a floater this specimen is crystallized from top to bottom and in very good condition. The smaller of the two main crystals has an abrasion at the tip and there is one damaged at an insignificant bottom-crystal. The rest is perfect and brilliant.
It's a highly attractive and sparkling specimen in sweeping shape!
Hexagonal prisms of transparent calcite with nice luster and low pyramidal terminations are set on a grey matrix with a nice association of calcite micro-crystals. All crystals are in very good condition with only peripheral contacts.
Two parallel grown smoky quartz crystals with a crust of chlorite and rutile at the backside. The crystals are in best condition, even the bottom is completely crystallized. A very attractive specimen from this uncommon locale!
Most pyrite crystals from this region are simple in architecture and mostly rather small in size. This cuboctahedral single crystal on the other hand shows strikingly vivid details, almost like the rosette of an iron rose in combination with the structure of stacked galena cubes. The metallic dark brown surface is lustrous, sharp and flawless. On the bottom side, where the pyrite is crystallized as well, it is overgrown with tightly packed books of muscovite. Further to the specimens left you can find a group of white calcite which adds contrast and even more structure to this fine specimen! With a crystal size of 2 cm this is for sure an outstanding Alpine rarity!
