This is an amazing group of galena with high quality. Most of the specimens I have seen coming out from Russia are heavily damaged, or just of lower quality. This specimen is perfect all around, without any damage of importance. Also the bottom side is crystallized with some small crystals of calcite. The calcites in between look very nice, giving the specimen a particular character. It is very 3-dimensional in person, what is not very good visible on the pictures.
This floater is basically an aggregate of sparklingly lustrous barite crystals that exhibit a color range from creamy white to dark smoky brown. The piece is virtually free of damage, with just some minor wear at the backside. I love the shape of a 3-dimensional jigsaw puzzle composed of hundreds of clustered crystals. A highly lustrous appealing piece of barite with even some matrix at the backside.
All in all this is a outstanding piece that impresses in many ways! The combination of doubly terminated amethyst on beautiful lustrous calcite, accompanied by salmon colored apophyllite of unusual crystal habit is just unique. Not even the book "China" by Berthold Ottens shows comparable specimens! There is no damage to be found on this fabulous piece of pure stunning elegance. A rare piece of highest quality you will harldy find alike on the market or even in private showcases around the world!
White stocky quartz crystals are clustered to form this sparkling floater specimen. The quartz is mostly glassy and transparent with superb luster and very little edgewear. The bottom side is equally nice with smaller crystals but therefor additional white adularia, tiny hematite and even at some spots some titanite, which is a totally characteristic association for the locale. Elegant and appealing in person!
The largest pyrite on this specimen is 2.8 cm on edge, cubical and nicely lustrous. It is in combination with smaller pyrite crystals and a coating of colorless quartz crystals that covers around half of the piece and provides a great contrast!
The overal condition is great with only some minor edgewear. An appealing miniature specimen from the important Mundo Nuevo Mine!
A quartz scepter of highest quality, sharp, lustrous and very well defined. The whole crystal is in best condition with only one minimal wilbur at the tip which should not concern you on a fantastic piece like this. The bottom tapers to a pointed termination and is completely crystallized. Some yellowish iron oxide markes this as a characteristic Rauris specimen. Characteristic, yet of exceptionally high quality and outstanding aesthetics. A true stunner in person!
This charming little specimen shows doubly terminated violet apatite on a waferthin crystallized white matrix. The condition is all perfect and crystals show very nice trasparent quality with lovely color. An unusual find from this locale!
The diameter of this spessartine sphere is a considerable 2.8 cm. It is a rather rough crystal but as far as one can tell it's flawless with only a contact at the backside. Some direct illumination reveals the cherry-red color that's strong near the surface. The single crystal is set on a white piece of albite. Around the spessartine's base is a collar of muscovite with translucent green micro-crystals, presumably andradite. Attractive composition meets a remarkably large main crystal in very best condition!
A glassy floater specimen of etched fluorite from Italy. The surface is frosted but smooth enough to let you see inside the clear crystal. It is free of any damage and shows a greenish tinge but with a purple zone right in the middle! Very 3-dimensional and appealing in person!
A floater of solid fluorite with a lustrous, nicely structured surface! The irregularly etched piece is all flawless and with a clear, slightly greenish interior. Definitely an attractive piece from this important locale!
A number of amber-orange grossular crystals are scattered across this crystallized feldspar matrix, associated with several colorless quartz. The brownish grey matrix provides a perfect contrast for the gemmy, sparkling garnet, with sharp, euhedral crystals up to around 4 mm in diameter. The backside is mostly cut as is one smaller patch at the front. Anyway, the overall view is one of great quality garnet on a nicely structured matrix, characteristic for Nuristan Region.
One highly lustrous and transparent quartz crystal of fascinating shape protrudes from a quartz matrix that is perfectly crystallized all over. The quality of the main crystal is absolutely superb with sparkling luster and an interior that is, save for some internal cracks that even improve the reflections, water-clear. At close view you will find some minor scratchs here or there but nothing of concern. An imposing piece that holds an excellently vibrant sheen!
