Typical for Zinggenstock, this smoky quartz specimen shows absolutely best quality. Superb crystals of intensive brown color are grown on a starkly contrasting white matrix, studded with some lovely adularia. The largest quartz is 3.7 cm long, limpid and perfectly lustrous on all sides, as are all other crystals on this wonderful specimen. The matrix is cut at the bottom but all naturally broken at the sides with no damage and hardly any contacts. One tiny little issue: The larger crystal has a wilbur at the tip. All the rest is in absolutely perfect condition which I consider a miracle when thinking of the rather harsh conditions on the mountain. In short: fantastic!
This is a piece of pure natural aesthetics that can only develop its full beauty in person! Lovely sceptre amethysts along other quartz crystals are grown on a bed of cream-colored albite, dark green chlorite and gneis matrix. The longest, most distinct sceptre amethyst is 2.5 cm long, the most voluminous crystal is around 1.5 cm thick, all without damage!
While this piece is not for the collector of textbook composed specimens or crystal fetishists, it sure is a rewarding and exceptional specimen for the collector of Alpine beauties!
This epidote specimen is from a recent find in the western Pakistani Mountains that revealed a completely unique and highly aesthetic "bow tie" shape. Sprays of dark green, lustous epidote form this sharp clusters in a just lovely way. This specimen strikes with a catchy shape that emphasizes the larger vertical main crystal that shows its best luster on the front. Contacts are on the bottom only, the rest is in best condition!
Bad news first: this crystal is repaired. But honestly, some pieces are worth repairing and this large single crystal of doubly terminated, dark green and lustrous atacamite on matrix is definitely one of those. Atacamite from the Lily Mine usually comes as acicular crystals, often non-terminated and enclosed in gypsum. This piece is exceptionally well developed. The main crystal is impressive 3 cm long, has a sharp bladed termination and sits perfectly aesthetic in the centre of a sparkling quartz covered matrix. Definitely a significant piece for this locale!significant
A marvelous sculpturesque skeletal quartz, 360° etched and beautiful. The quartz is completely water-clear with thousands of sparkling faces and great structure. Except for some hard to spot chips this crystal is in very good condition from bottom to top. An intriguing specimen of the rare etched type!
This is a pristine doubly terminated smoky quartz crystal that shows best luster at the frontside - the backside is somewhat more dull but still good - and some sparkling association of mica and smaller quartz crystals. There is no damage to speak of only microscopic abrasions at the termination. A truly brilliant specimen of excellent aesthetics and superb quality!
The 3-dimensional aesthetics of this crocoite specimen is just outstanding and utterly appealing! The very dark brown and contrasting matrix forms a perfect base for an artfully arranged composition of crocoite crystals up to around 6 cm in length and 0.5 cm thick! The crystals show a very intense orange-red color and great luster as is rather outstanding for this mineral. With no visible damage, best quality and intriguing aesthetics, this is a true highlight from the worlds most famous crocoite mine!
It's 2 cm thick, perfect all around and with a charming waxy cream-color that shines from the translucent crystal! At the base of the main crystal is a cluster of smaller crystals as well as some matrix and minimal adularia. The main adularia is chloritized around the corners, just in the right amount to boost the aesthetics but not cloud the fascinating clarity of the crystal. The bottom is to the very largest part crystallized and evenly perfect.
A magnificent adularia specimen of high perfection and very attractive aesthetics!
Another beautiful fluorite in combination with well crystals of quartz!
Five elongated quartz crystals are fanning out like shiny white fingers. Especially the largest crystal is heavily supported by black sphalerite which provides the perfect contrast and spectacular aesthetics! The single quartz fingers are at closer inspection clusters of hundreds of small crystals which makes for a fantastically lovely surface. A sparkling, 3-dimensional sculpture that is perfect on all sides and rich in so many beautiful details!
This is a classic piece for Naica, with the characteristic modified, beveled cubical crystals on a contrasting black sphalerite matrix and some chalcopyrite at the backside. The crystals are nicely stacked upon each other with increasing diameter to the top. The color is pale inside the transparent crystals, yet shows a surprising change from a green tinge - visible closer to the matrix - to a light purple. Condition is well with only some very minor issues, nothing to worry about. A cluster of amazing aesthetics and high quality!
A large cluster of brilliant scalenohedral calcite that is crystallized on all sides. Only the bottom is contacted, the rest is all complete and in near perfect condition. Several doubly terminated crystals, the largest of which is 12.5 cm long(!), are sitting atop a more massive but evenly sparkling calcite body. The mostly transparent crystals are milky white at the inside but intensively orange-brown "cognac" colored at the completely gemmy edges. An imposing, characteristic specimen for the famous Elmwood Mine, one of the worlds best localities for high class calcite!
