It's hard to imagine how a single crystal could be better emphasized on a specimen! The intensively purple fluorapatite is set on a massive blueish black tourmaline matrix that is covered in a cream-colored layer of mica microcrystals. The apatite is gemmy, highly lustrous and virtually perfect. When you turn the piece around you can see the massive black tourmaline that is mostly opaque but has some gemmy blue patches too. Definitely an unusual yet remarkable specimen!

The well defined, gemmy, lustrous zircon crystal with golden amber color is set on a white calcite matrix. The single crystal is very well emphasized against the contrasting matrix which is actually quite uncommon for this rare mineral. The crystal gets even more intense at direct downlight which easily brings out the wonderfully appealing color! A beautiful crystal in very best condition!

A single tourmaline crystal from the Ampanivana pegmatite that shows nice strawberry red color at direct backlight illumination! The crystal is flawless with a richness of details: nice surface structure, white spots of associated albite, attached side-crystals and a modified flat termination. There are some contacts but everything is re-crystallized and not broken.

Size: 6.8 x 5.8 x 5.5 cm

A single main spinel crystal is set on a glistening white matrix that's sprinkled with smaller spinels all over. The main crystal is 2.2 cm broad, translucent and with a deep strawberry red color that is especially strong if you add some warm light from the back or top. The spinel has the usual rounded edges without loosing its well defined shape that is a flattened modified octahedron.

NL09 - Quartz Sceptre - 1900€
Diamantina, Jequitinhonha valley, Minas Gerais, Brazil
Size: 6.7 x 3.3 x 3.2 cm
Watch Video

Diamantina is well known for its quartz specimens with inclusions of rutile, hematite or chlorite. However, this very distinctive smoky quartz sceptre is a brilliant exception. The aesthetics is very straight forward: A large head of nice smoky color is grown on a colorless stem, both of which show very fine luster and sharp development. At the touching point between stem and head there is a dark zone that is particularly smoky! The overall condition is very good with only a contact at the backside and some contact induced rough edges. No damage!

LB110 - Fluorite and Quartz - 2200€
Erongo Mts., Karibib Constituency, Namibia
Size: 6.1 x 5 x 4.7 cm
Watch Video

Fluorites from the Erongo Mountains are known for their amazing green color and this specimen is no exception! Modified octahedral fluorites up to 2.3 cm in diameter are showing their fascinating emerald green even at room-light illumination while virtually exploding with color at direct downlight! When you turn the piece around you can see that the fluorite there is contacted. But it's not green but red-brown with some purple patches and an association of white mica. The frontside however is all very well defined with a distinct main crystal at the top and a single quartz near the bottom which adds much in respect of aesthetics!

Size: 3.3 x 2.5 x 0.8 cm
Watch Video

Among the many gold pieces that came from the rich finds at Serra do Caldeirão, among the rich shapes and patterns of finest bright gold, this thumbnail sized specimen strikes with exceptionally pronounced hoppered growth, visible on both front and backside! The contrast of black huebnerite and white quartz is quite striking here, especially as all crystals show very best sparkling luster! While the backside has some damaged crystals you will hardly find any flaws when looking at the attractive main view. The huebnerite comes as sharp and lustrous prismatic crystals that are mostly black but with some fire-red patches here and there if you add direct backlight. A rich and lovely piece of beautiful aesthetics!
